Orma — Terms of Service

Welcome to Orma. These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the Orma app and related services (the "Service"). By using Orma you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Please read them carefully: they are written in plain language but form a binding agreement between you and Orma.

1. Who we are and what Orma is

Orma is a free community app designed to help people find lost pets, report found or abandoned animals, and support adoptions from verified shelters and rescues. Our tagline is "Find your friend" ("Ritrova il tuo amico").

2. Purpose of the Service

Orma is a community tool that connects people and displays reports on a map. The Service is provided free of charge. Orma does not sell animals, is not a commercial intermediary, and is not a party to agreements between users or between users and facilities.

On the public map, the location of reports is obfuscated by about 150 meters to protect privacy.

3. Account and requirements

To use some features you must register an account by providing an email and a display name. You may optionally add a phone number.
The Service is not intended for children under 16. By registering you confirm that you are at least 16 years old.
You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for any activity carried out through your account.
You must provide truthful information and keep it up to date.

4. Acceptable use and prohibited content

When using Orma you agree to behave fairly and respectfully. In particular, the following is prohibited:

posting false, misleading or duplicate listings, or faking recoveries that did not happen;
spamming, unauthorized advertising, data harvesting or commercial solicitation;
posting unlawful, offensive, violent, defamatory, discriminatory or hateful content;
uploading photos or information you have no rights to, or other people's personal data without their consent;
harassing, threatening, deceiving or defrauding other users, including through chat;
attempting to identify or reach a person by misusing the location of reports;
using the Service for illegal activities, including the unauthorized trade of animals;
interfering with the operation of the app, circumventing its security measures or using disallowed automated systems.

5. User-generated content

You retain ownership of the content you post (photos, text, reports, messages). By posting it you grant us a free, non-exclusive and limited license to host, display and distribute it within the Service for its operation (for example, showing your report on the map or in notifications).

You are solely responsible for the content you upload and you warrant that you have the right to publish it. Orma does not pre-screen all content and does not claim authorship of it.

6. Facilities, verification and adoptions

Orma lists shelters and rescues and may mark them as "verified". Verification consists of checks carried out to the best of our ability (for example, on the documents provided), but it does not constitute a legal guarantee regarding the identity, reliability, suitability or practices of the facility.

Adoptions and any relationship with facilities take place directly between you and the facility, according to their own rules and procedures. Orma is not a party to such agreements and is not liable for the outcome of adoptions, fostering or animal handovers.

7. No guarantee of recovery

Orma is a tool that helps people find or adopt animals, but it does not guarantee any result. We cannot ensure that an animal will be found, recognized or returned, nor that a report will reach the right people. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available".

8. Moderation, suspension and termination

We may moderate, remove or hide content that violates these Terms or the law, and we may restrict, suspend or close an account in case of abuse, well-founded reports or risks to user safety. Where reasonable we will try to inform you, but in urgent cases we may act immediately.

You may stop using Orma at any time and delete your account from the app (Profile → Delete account) or by writing to info@orma.pet. Reports expire and are archived after 90 days.

9. Intellectual property

The name "Orma", the logo, the app, the software and the graphic elements are owned by Orma's owner or its licensors and are protected by law. You may not copy, modify, distribute or use them outside of what the Service allows without authorization. Third-party maps and data (for example OpenStreetMap) remain the property of their respective owners.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Orma is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Service, for the conduct of users or facilities, for the accuracy of content posted by third parties, or for the failure to recover an animal or complete an adoption. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, for example in cases of willful misconduct, gross negligence or personal injury.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Italian law. For disputes, the court of the consumer's place of residence or domicile shall have jurisdiction where required by mandatory rules; in all other cases the competent court under Italian law shall apply.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, for example to reflect changes to the Service or legal requirements. In case of significant changes we will notify you through the app or by email. By continuing to use Orma after the update, you accept the new Terms.
