Account and data deletion
Account and data deletion
With Orma you can delete your account and the data linked to it at any time. This page explains how to do it, what gets deleted or anonymised, and how long it takes.
How to delete your account from the app
The easiest way is directly inside the app:
- Open the Orma app and sign in to your account.
- Go to Profile.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm when prompted.
Deletion starts right away. Once confirmed, you will no longer be able to sign in to the account.
Alternative by email
If you cannot access the app or prefer to use email, you can write to us at info@orma.pet and ask us to delete your account. So that we can act on your request, we need to be able to verify that the account is yours: please write from the email address linked to the account.
What gets deleted or anonymised
When you delete your account:
- Your account is permanently deleted: your display name, email and phone number (if provided) are removed.
- Your reports and sightings are deleted and no longer appear on the map or in searches.
- Your device push-notification tokens are deleted, so you stop receiving alerts.
The photos you uploaded and the content attached to your reports are deleted along with your account. Your chat messages, any mistreatment reports you filed and your pets' health documents are also removed.
Timing
Deletion from the app takes effect immediately: your account is deleted and your reports are removed at the moment you confirm. Requests sent by email to info@orma.pet are handled without undue delay, normally within 30 days.
Once completed, the operation cannot be undone: the account and its linked content cannot be recovered.
What we may keep
In a few limited cases we may keep some information even after deletion, only if and for as long as it is necessary to comply with legal obligations, prevent abuse and unlawful activity, or establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. Such data is kept to the strict minimum and is not used for any other purpose.
Your rights
Beyond deletion, you can exercise the other rights granted by the GDPR (access, rectification, restriction, portability and objection), and you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali). For any request, write to us at info@orma.pet.
